How we Help
The Clerk Maxwell Research Fund supports new medical applications of the electromagnetic spectrum to be developed for the battle against cancer in the 21st century.
The Fund also underwrites research projects in universities investigating the potential of electric and magnetic fields in diagnosis and treatment.
CMCRF has two main considerations in selecting projects: first, projects where there are likely to be tangible outcomes for cancer patients, and second, where without our financial support the project might not be possible.
The Fund’s focus is on new developments in radiotherapy and diagnostic imaging (rather than drug based research). The potential importance of diagnostic radiology and radiation therapy continues to increase as new technologies and scientific developments are introduced.
There is the expertise to take advantage of current scientific and technological opportunities that could be translated into both better chances of cure and quality of life for cancer patients, and a deeper understanding of some of the causes of cancer.
